Canals with staircases of locks, steam engines, lakes and rivers, wild deer and country parks! These are just some of the fascinating things you will see along the walks. A great introduction for children to the outdoors and a wonderful source of exercise and healthy fresh air that we all get too little of these days!

The 20 walks have been chosen carefully to be suitable for all ages of children, with plenty of interest in the history and wildlife of the area along the way. On each walk there are general knowledge and observation questions to answer, encouraging not only enjoyable walking, but also fun learning experiences. Photographs, quality hand-drawn maps and a fact-file supplement each walk with information on refreshment stops including farmhouse afternoon teas. Paul and Sandra Biggs between them have written four previous books for Sigma. They have lived in Loughborough for the last 12 years and have two children who often accompany them on their walks.
