South Lakeland Walks with Children is a book for parents
whose children may not be as keen to go walking as they are. South Lakeland
offers some spectacular walking country; with gentle fells and lush valleys,
excellent panoramic views, good tourist amenities and plenty to amuse the children.
The twenty circular and varied walks are spread across the whole of the Southern
Lakes. Each one has been researched and written with children in mind; with
many places of interest along the way.
The routes vary in length, but feature `Escape Routes'
at various points along the way, so they can be tailored to suit the needs,
time and energy of each family.
Clear, concise, yet thorough directions are given, along
with listings of toilets and baby changing facilities where available. The book
contains a text of interest to children and includes various features to keep
them occupied and aware of their surroundings. Some of the routes can be adapted
to be pushchair friendly.
Nick Lambert is a regular visitor to the South Lakes, and
has enjoyed walking there for many years, both with and without his family in
tow. He is a keen environmentalist, interested in the conservation and preservation
of the British countryside. He is a member of Friends of the Earth and The Ramblers
Association.
Ideal for both families with keen young walkers, and those
reluctant to take exercise on the fells. Schools and playgroups.
