This is the second (fully revised and updated) edition of a fascinating book which provides a solid foundation in Cornish vocabulary and grammar, but it's much more than a phrase book: you'll read about the history of Cornwall and stories of the people, often larger than life, who were prominent in the use and revival of the Cornish tongue. Once widely spoken, it is a valuable part of Britain's heritage and, by studying this book, you can become one of the few to appreciate its importance; you might even follow Craig Weatherhill's advice and take lessons to become fluent in the language, thereby helping to maintain an important cultural link with Cornwall's past.
Dip into this book and a holiday in Cornwall will take on a whole new meaning!
Craig Weatherhill is a historian, novelist, Cornish bard and a member of the Cornish Language Council. His previous books include two standard works on Cornish archaeology; 'Myths and Legneds of Cornwall' co-written with Paul Devereux (Sigma Press, 1994), and two novels based on Cornish legends.
