The Cambrian Coast railway line is one of the prettiest in Wales. A journey along it makes for a wonderful day out. However, on leaving the train behind there is a plethora of superb walks.
Cambrian Coast Train Walks
The 32 walks described explore coastal or cliff top paths, quiet valleys, lakes, woodlands and hills as well as traversing some extremely fine beaches. Legends and history abound in the area which is highlighted in the text of each walk. Walks start from stations and mostly circular, with some linear. The scenery is dramatic, with sweeping vistas of estuaries and the sea, soaring mountains and fine sessile oak woods, making this an area well worth seeking out for holidays or for short breaks.
About the AuthorBorn and bred in the Lake District Des has always had an interest in outdoor adventure especially as a rock climber, caver and mountaineer. Not content with being a ‘weekend climber’ he became an instructor, trainer and assessor and an adviser in caving and climbing. He also organised adventure holidays to Europe, the Himalayas and East Africa. After living in Derbyshire for 20 years he moved to mid Wales and the Cambrian Coast for 18 years before moving to the States. On his return, he lived in Derbyshire before retiring to the Llyn Peninsula 4 years ago. Des still climbs and walks as often as possible.
