  • Many of the longer walks have shorter versions and altogether the different variations and combinations make 47 routes. The walks range from the fabulous Northumberland Coast to the Cheviot Hills, Kielder Forest, the North Pennines, Hadrian’s Wall and the areas in between. Some of the walks are Northumberland classics but many are new and are seldom, if at all, reported. Helpful planning information, clear, easy-tofollow route descriptions and maps.

    About the Author:

Mark Lejk has lived in Whitley Bay since 1982 and regards the North East as his spiritual home. He took up walking as an escape from the sometimes pressured world of computing in which he worked as a university lecturer. He soon became enchanted by the beauty and history of the area, and Northumberland in particular.

He walks regularly either on his own or as part of a walking group which he helped to found.
