The book describes 30 walks and also has lots of information about the areas through which the various routes pass. The walks vary in length from a mere 2½ miles to 12¾ miles, so there's something suitable for everyone here.
High Pub Walks in the Peak District
The Peak District National Park is noted for more than just its scenery. It also has a wealth of real ale pubs, many of which lie above 1000 feet (304 metres). Martin was a transport planner with the Peak District National Park for many years before moving to work for Derbyshire County Council. He has an intimate knowledge of much of the National Park, but his keenest interest is in the area's industrial archaeology, especially its transport and, of course, the old coaching inns. Martin began walking the hills of Derbyshire at the tender age of 5 when his father took him up on Kinder Scout. It was his father's love of walking, in particular his affection for Kinder Scout, that first aroused Martin's enthusiasm for hiking, an enthusiasm that has grown over the years.
