The Twelve Apostles above Riddlesden are among destinations for walkers using a new book. The stone circle on Ilkley Moor, along with the nearby Swastika Stone, feature in John Burland’s paperback Yorkshire Walks.

There are also walks to Top Withens, the reputed inspiration for Wuthering Heights above Stanbury, and Bingley’s five rise locks. The 224-page book offers 30 walks in Airedale, Wharfdale, Ribblesdale, Nidderdale, Wensleydale and Swaledale.

The author, a regular Contributor to Dalesman and Cumbria Magazines, has lived in Wharfdale for 30 years and has spent the past four years walking the routes in the book and collating information, which ranges from maps to historical background.
